From trekking in the country’s mountainous north to kayaking amid the stunning backdrop of Ha Long Bay this trip has it all. We visit the country’s cultural heartland in Hue and Hoi An before heading south to the impressive sandy beaches at Nha Trang, the romantic town of Dalat and the lush flood plains of the Mekong Delta.

Day 1: Hanoi arrival
On arrival at Hanoi airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After a welcome drink and tour briefing you will enjoy a performance of Viet Nam's unique traditional Water Puppetry.

Day 2: Hanoi - Cycling (B)
Commencing the day with a heritage walk, you visit President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and the humble house on stilts, as well as the famous One Pillar Pagoda and Temple of Literature (Viet Nam's first University). Insight into Viet Nam's ethnic diversity is gained at the Museum of Ethnology, while Hoa Lo Prison Museum is a more sobering experience. After enjoying the tranquility of Hoan Kiem Lake's, Ngoc Son Temple enjoy a one hour cycle. Explore the intriguing and bustling Old Quarter with its 36 streets packed with traditional handicrafts and goods.

Day 3: Hanoi - Mai Chau – Home stay (B, L, D)
Traveling to the province of Hoa Binh, you pass through a region of spectacular limestone mountains and tea plantations to arrive in Mai Chau. This is a small town nestled in the midst of a lush valley and surrounded by emerald-green rice fields. Enjoy picturesque views of the scenic landscape, dotted with pagodas and rural villages. Stop along the way to visit the Muong tribe and then stop at Thung Khe Pass for a spectacular view of Mai Chau Valley. Have lunch in Mai Chau then spend the afternoon trekking on a typical track, along the Song Ma River. Trek through terraced rice paddies and small villages, discovering the natural beauty of the valley and encountering the culture of the White Thai people, living in the region. Stop at a Thai village (Lac) for the night, having dinner with a local family and enjoying a Thai’s dancing performance.

Day 4: Mai Chau Trekking – Hanoi (B, L)
Start the day with a simple breakfast with your host family and then take a short drive through the surrounding countryside, before setting off on a trek through rice paddies and down winding lanes to visit the “Cum” and “Xam Khoe” villages. Immerse yourself in the vibrant local culture and enjoy an authentic lunch at one of the villages. In the afternoon we drive back to the urban bustle, arriving at your hotel in Hanoi in the late afternoon.

Day 5: Hanoi – Halong - Kayaking (B, L, D)

AM: Be picked up at your hotel from 8:00am.for a 3.5 hour bus ride through the country side of the Red River Delta to Ha Long City. Upon arrival, board the Halong Phoenix Cruiser. A fresh seafood lunch (vegetable menu available) will be served while the boat is setting sail.
PM: Prepare for a fun kayaking experience in this area while absorbing the stunning vista of the serene bay. Experience a short tender ride from the middle of the bay to Ti Top island where you can relax on the beach or walk up to the top of the island for the panoramic view of the anchorage area. Return to the Halong Phoenix Cruiser, as the sun sets over the bay and relax on the sundeck with your favorite drink. Dinner is served with delicious local seafood.
Overnight is on board.

Day 6: Halong – Hanoi (B, L)
AM: Rise early and witness a breathtaking sunrise from the sundeck. Enjoy your buffet breakfast before visiting one of the most beautiful cave in Halong – Amazing Cave. Return to the boat and learn about the recipe and techniques that go into creating the most popular dish of the Vietnamese. Lunch will be served while cruising back to the harbor.
PM: Your bus is waiting at the harbor port to take you back to Hanoi for overnight.

Day 7: Hanoi – Hue- Biking (B)
Today you have free time in Hanoi until you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Hue. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel to check in. In the afternoon, you will take a bike tour to visit one of the city’s garden houses called Ngoc Son Princess where you can taste some specialties of the Central Region such as “banh it” and “banh phu the”. The tour continues on to visit the Imperial Citadel and Forbidden Purole City. Return to your hotel.

Day 8: Hue – Danang - Hoian (B)
This morning you take a leisurely cruise by royal dragon boat on the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda's stone steps. The boat waits as you climb the stairs to explore one of Viet Nam's oldest and most revered Pagodas. Then you will be gliding on the clear waters to arrive at the majestic and serene tomb of King Minh Mang.
A road trip will take you to Danang, where you will visit the Museum of Cham Sculpture. Here you can see the displays of carvings from a once powerful and prosperous civilization. From here you will be driven to the old merchant town of Hoi An where the heritage streets beckon exploration. Be tempted by the art galleries, hand crafted woodwork, ceramics, lanterns, embroidery and tailor shops where an entire wardrobe can be made overnight. The rest of the day is free to explore this ancient town. Overnight at your resort hotel.

Day 9: Hoian – Cham island – Snorkeling (B, L)
Enjoy breakfast at your resort. Today you will take a speed boat to visit Cham Island, a large island that is part of a group of several small islands 25 nautical miles off the coast from Hoi An and known for its nice beaches, forest and pagodas. You will visit Hai Tang Pagoda & Bai Lang Fishing Village. Fresh sea food is served for the lunch. Swim, sunbath and snorkel at Bai Chong. Return to Hoian in the afternoon.

Day 10: Hoian – Cooking class – Nha Trang (B)
This morning take part in a cooking class at the Red Bridge Cooking School. Meet at the Hai Scout Cafe in Hoian’s Old Town. From there you will head to Hoian's colorful market. Explore the market and interact with local vendors to purchase some fresh ingredients for today’s cooking class. Next, board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely 25min. cruise along the Hoian River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. Discover the school's herb and vegetable garden. Learn to cook and help prepare five traditional dishes to enjoy for lunch. You will also be entertained and taught some special techniques at the fruit and vegetable carving demonstration.
In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight to Nha Trang. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 11: Nha Trang (B, L)
Today, a visit to the imposing 7th century Cham Tower of Po Nagar is followed by a tour of the Oceanographic Institute's staggering collection of aquatic flora and fauna. At Ben Da harbour you board a boat and cruise the island dotted turquoise waters of Nha Trang Bay. Visit Mun and Con Se Tre islands and a fishing village. Return to your hotel. Overnight in Nha Trang.

Day 13: Nha Trang - Da Lat (B)
Leaving the golden sands behind, you will visit the remarkable Cham Towers of Poklon Garai before commencing the ascent into the mountains of the South Central

Highlands. Panoramic views of the coastal plains, pine tree clad mountains and crisp cool air herald the approach to the scenic French Hill Station of Da Lat.
An afternoon of sightseeing takes in the art deco designed, former summer residence of Bao Dai – the last Emperor of Vietnam, the old Dalat Railway Station, the Central Market and the famous XQ embroidery workshop. There will be the chance for a short walk around Xuan Huong Lake to get a feel for this delightful city in the evening.

Day 14: Da Lat - Ho Chi Minh City by plane (B)
After breakfast, visit Thien Vien Truc Lam – the largest Zen Monastery of Vietnam. Then take the steps down toward the Tuyen Lam Lake and enjoy seeing of this vast lake of Dalat by boat. On the way back to the city for lunch, visit Lat village, home to a number of distinct ethnic minority groups with varying traditions and beliefs. Here you have the chance to purchase traditional handicrafts and gain a unique insight.
Transfer to Lien Khuong Airport for your onward flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure or exploring the city on your own.

Day 15: Ho Chi Minh City (B)
Enjoy a full day touring Saigon’s diverse attractions. It starts with a visit to Saigon’s China Town, then onto the FITO Museum where you can learn about traditional Vietnamese medicine. Browse through the amazing array of goods at Ban Thanh Market. Stop for lunch and then continue the city tour with a visit to the War Remnants Museum and former Presidential Palace. Conclude the day exploring the city’s French colonial architecture, stopping at the Notre Dame Cathedral and the City’s Post Office.

Day 16: Ho Chi Minh City – Cao Dai Temple – Cu Chi Tunnels (B)
Today you travel outside of Saigon to visit the beautiful Cao Dai Temple in Tay Ninh and partake in the noontime prayer service. This large and colorful compound is home to the hybrid religion founded in the 1920s: Caodaism, which combines elements of Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism, Christianity and Islam in order to promote peace. After lunch in a local restaurant explore the famous historic Cu Chi Tunnels on the way back to the city. The tunnels are an underground labyrinth of passageways, used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War (or “American War” as it’s referred to here) as protection against American air raids. Those inclined are invited to crawl through selections of the tunnels to better understand what life was like for the Vietnamese soldiers during wartime.

Day 17: Ho Chi Minh – Cai Be – Vinh Long – Can Tho (B)
Today you leave Saigon and travel to the Mekong River Delta. Enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel before driving to the riverside town, Cai Be. Along the way, stop at a candy factory and orchard garden, where you have an opportunity to listen to traditional music. Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a riverside restaurant, then cross the Mekong by motorized boat to visit some alluvial islands and explore the countryside by bicycle.

Your driver will meet you at Vinh Long jetty and take you to Can Tho City for the night.

Day 18: Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market – Saigon.
Wake early and leave the hotel to visit the famous Cai Rang floating market by motor boat. Continue the boat ride to visit the Mekong Delta’s famous orchards and sample the fresh, exotic fruit. Then venture deeper into the country side, passing traditional houses made of wood and palm leaves as you observe the activities of the local people. Return to Can Tho for lunch then drive back to Ho Chi Minh, arriving in the late afternoon.

Day 19: Ho Chi Minh City - Departure (B)
A good opportunity to do some last minute shopping before your transfer to Ho Chi Minh City Airport for your ongoing flight.
